Tripoli - For the first time in four decades, Libya celebrates 60 years of independence from colonial Italy and France.

Thousands of people flock to Tripoli to celebrate Independence Day. At the headquarters of the National Transition Council in Tripoli, the ministers shared the cake and mingled with journalists.
Libya for decades have been colonized by various nations, until in 1947 the Italian and French releases their power in Libya. But British influence in Libya stuck back by announcing its support for the leadership of King Idris in 1951's.
On the sidelines of the celebration of the independence of Libya, PM Abdurrahim el-Taher Keib Sharkas announced resignation from his post as Minister of Economy. The resignation also followed by a another minister Abduol Jalil.
The resignation came after protests demanding the officials of the Gaddafi regime had prohibited any post in the new government of Libya.
